Welcome to the
Dirt Duathlon

Alongside the rest of the world, the Big Bang Adventure Charitable Trust met on 18/3/20 to discuss our COVID-19 plan.

It is a very tough and changeable time for all, but we hope to give you something to look forward to. The Dirt Duathlon Adventure Racing series, scheduled for 28th June, 26th July and 22nd August will, at this stage, go ahead as normal. We will continually monitor and review this decision in line with the Ministry of Health and government announcements. If required we will postpone the series to 2021  in which case all entries will have the option to defer to then or use the money as a credit towards entry to the Big Bang Adventure Race on 7th November.

We have a lot of plans in place already to restrict your contact with other at our events and will implement these if required.  Rest assured we will do all we can to keep you guys, our staff and all our wonderful volunteers safe at our events.

Whilst the world is in chaos and the toilet rolls are in short supply, make sure you all take some time for yourselves, get out into the real world be it on foot or bike and breathe in the fresh air. New Zealand has the best air in the world and the space to self-isolate while staying healthy and fit. Let’s make the most of these trying times Dirt Duathlon people, see you out there but please don’t hug us.

Yours in adventure racing

Carrie, Marty, Pete and Si

Dirt Duathlon is a series like no other! We are made up of 3 mini adventure races (approx 3 - 4 hrs depending on how fast you are!) between June and August. You train over winter, why not race over winter too?

In teams of 2, 3 4 you can enter 1, 2 or all 3 events on foot and bike, experiencing the Big Bang Dirt Duathlon in the day or by night!

Races 1 and 2 will allow you to explore your adventure racing skills during daylight hours. Race 3 will test these skills to the max - in the dark!

We like to spread the love so the events are held between the Wellington, Kapiti and Horowhenua (TBC) regions.

To keep things easy,  we know that's how you like to roll, the day events will start at 10 am so you can have a lie in. The night event will start around 6 pm.

Race 1 : 28th June, Horowhenua

Race 2 : 26th July, Wellington

Race 3 : 22nd Aug, Kapiti, in the dark
